Current

Here are the remaining purchases from my shopping trip earlier this week...I am currently lounging in my alum hoodie & some sweat pants, not very note (or fashion) worthy, but these are:

Camel Woolen Cardigan from Zara

Sheer Ruffle Dress from H&M

The camel cardigan is very cape like and can (and will) be worn with virtually any(and every)thing. The dress is soooo versatile-I'm thinking denim jacket/thigh-highs/boots or maybe pea coat/lacy tights/patent leather pumps? Suggestions???

Work to Play

Boyfriend Blazer, Knit Blouse, & Printed Skirt from F21, Nude Pumps from Steve Madden, Bag from Topshop

I love my career clothing...but when it's time to go out (especially after work) who wants to be caught dead in a pantsuit or a constricting skirt (not that there's anything wrong with those who do)? After being in the same clothing for 8 hours, easily swapping out pieces for more fun after hours is a simple way to go from work to play. Originally I wore a tank under the blouse and some simple black pumps for a more work appropriate look. Unfortunately 5 inch nude heels and a sheer top aren't what I'd consider appropriate in my profession.

To be honest, this was one of those outfits I threw on in a whim this morning and it 'just worked.' The skirt was an item picked up on my mini spree yesterday and everything else sort of fell into place. Don't you just love when that happens??

Chummy Chocolate

Love and Beauty Nail Polish by F21: Brown

I stopped off downtown on my way back uptown after work today to do some window shopping...which resulted in the purchase of a few fall items-I need them I swear! When I picked up this polish I just knew to expect a quirky name to go with it, like chummy chocolate or bashful brownie. I've obviously been living too long in OPI Land because I was taken aback by the very generic "Brown" labeled on the sticker, but whatever.

I usually go for the extremely dark, almost black shades for fall, but I'm very fond of warm earthy toned nails, and for less than $2, I couldn't walk away empty handed. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect olive green, suggestions anyone?

Leo Print at its Best

Leopard Print Bag: F21

I knew I had to have this bag from the moment I laid eyes on it. I almost dropped everything I was carrying due to the sudden flare of excitement and the mind-gone-blank-nothing-else-in-the-room-but-you-and-I-we'll-be-together-forever flash (which is a bit ironic considering a moment like this is usually involving another human being). I've had vivid memories of a leopard print bag since seeing a post a while back from Styleseeking Zurich, and because (like many a season before) leopard print is such a staple for the fall. I can't wait to pair it with all black ensembles and military inspired threads.

Workable

H&M Sheer Blouse and Printed Blazer, F21 Opaque Tights and Mary-Jane Heels, Thrifted Skirt

Because so much of my time is now spent on the job, a good few of my posts will be on professional attire (not all, scouts honor). I don't define professional dress as conservatively as others I've come to realize. Though fitting into your work environment is important, there is no reason to lose identity because of it. I simply believe that length, fabric, and fit define an article as "workable" or not.

My inspiration for this outfit is from Krystal at This Time Tomorrow. Instead of going bare legged I paired my sheer blouse and blazer with a high waisted knee length pencil skirt and some black opaque tights. I chose the Mary-Janes because though they are extremely high (which I don't mind at all being only 5'4"), they are work appropriate because of the fairly innocent baby doll look to them.

What do you think? Professional? Yay or nay??
